Wisdom Teachings

Mars, our planet of desire, energy, vitality and passion went retrograde Monday, January 23rd, 2012 (Retrograde dates: January 23, 2012 – April 13, 2012). What does this mean for you? Lets explore the energy of Mars.
Mars is our planet of power, strength, courage and aggression. Mars measures our ability to project force, passion and personal will into our lives. A strong Mars is necessary to give us the independence, self-confidence and motivation we need to carry out our unique ideas into the world. On the negative side, Mars can bring out agression, competition, arguments and conflict. On this note, Mars has always been known as the God of War.
Mars is the planetary energy connected to action. Yet, it is not just action for actions sake, it is goal-oriented action. Without Mars, we would just never get anything done.

The Upcoming Eclipse — Detoxification & Spin Cycles July 30, 2009

Three things cannot be long hidden;
The sun, the moon, and the truth.
~Buddha
What is an Eclipse?
An eclipse is an astronomical event that occurs when a planet or a celestial object moves into the shadow of another celestial object. The word “eclipse” has its origin from the ancient Greek word ekleipsis, which means, “I cease to exist,” or “I am absent.” This term is used to describe either a Solar Eclipse (when the Moon’s shadow crosses the Earth’s surface) or a Lunar Eclipse, (the Moon moves into the shadow of the Earth).
In the early days Eclipses were considered a very powerful phenomenon. They were seen as highly threatening and ominous. People were simply terrified of a Solar Eclipse. Can you imagine the “Light of the Sun fading to darkness in the middle of the day” when you did not know what an Eclipse was? Yikes!! Now we are more educated about what is really happening.

Mercury Retrograde May 6th 2009

The problem with communication…
Is the illusion that it has been accomplished
~George Bernard Shaw
Our fastest moving planet Mercury, is going Retrograde Wednesday, May 6th in the Sign of Gemini until May 30th, 2009. Mercury is our planet associated with communication, everyday mental activity and movement. Mercury goes Retrograde about 3 times a year. It will also move back into the sign of Taurus on May 13th giving us two planetary energies to experience.
A retrograde planet is one that (when viewed from the earth) “appears” to have stopped and is moving backward through the sky. After some time the planet then goes “direct” and is back on it’s normal cyclic path. Every planet retrogrades except the Sun and the Moon.

What Dasha Cycle are You In?
“Like gravity,
karma is so basic
we often don’t even
notice it.”
~Sakyong Mipham
Today’s Wisdom Teaching is on the dasa system. It is one of the most important tools in Vedic Astrology. A dasa is a planetary period of time, and will show you how your karma unfolds in your life. There are many dasa systems but the most prominent is the Vimshottari Dasha system, (Vimshottari means 120 in Sanskrit). It uses 120 years as the length of your life cycle. Each planet unfolds for a certain number of years before giving way to another.
Which Planet Cycle do I start my life with?
The start of your first planetary dasha is determined by the unique placement of your Moon at birth. The dasha’s unfold in the order of the list below. See if you can determine which dasha YOU are in right now by reading the brief descriptions of the cycles listed below.

Perhaps the most important cycle to consider of the many Astrological cycles is the cycle of the Moon. The Moon’s Cycle is a Wisdom Teaching that is actually understood as a Creation Cycle. Following the Cycle of the Moon helps you to stay in the natural flow of Creation with the Universe. Each particular phase of the Moon helps you to understand what part of the creative process is up and what you need to stay attentive to that will help you to reach your goals.
A Moon Cycle consists of eight phases. The following four are the most
important to follow. The New Moon starts tomorrow!
