The Wisdom Of Obstacles

Are you going through a tough time right now? Do you have an obstacle that seems complicated or complex? Today's Teaching is on the "Wisdom of Obstacles."

What is an Obstacle, and why do we need them?

An obstacle is something that obstructs or hinders any anticipated progress. An obstacle is a perception that something must be overcome and moved through.

Our society supports and rewards achievement and success. However, to feel that we have achieved, we must have an obstacle to overcome. Overcoming an obstacle builds character, strength, wisdom, and integrity. These are very profound qualities and very important, as well as essential to self-development.

How can I overcome my obstacles?

Unless an obstacle is life-threatening, the block can be overcome if you are honest with yourself, accept what is, have patience, work to feel free (and unashamed) to ask numerous questions, and then start to create a plan.

Growth requires obstacles.

A seed is planted in the ground and must be fed and nurtured by the earth until it is ready to sprout. When ready, it pushes up and breaks the soil to grow. We have the same journey as that tiny seed. But, instead of the earth being our obstacle, we must "break ground" by emerging and embracing life's challenging situations.

Before you perceive something as an obstacle, ask yourself these five questions.

1. Is this obstacle life-threatening?

2. Is the problem really as bad as it seems?

3. How long will it (reasonably) take to get through this problem?

4. If I overcome this obstacle, how will I feel about myself?

5. Have I overcome this obstacle before? If so, what was the outcome?

How can Spiritual Counseling and Astrological guidance help?

As I have gotten older, I learned that my obstacles are dealt with by completely accepting what "is" in any situation. I must first begin to see things as they are. Not as I want them to be. In those instances, the obstacle is ME. My perception of what is difficult is based on my need to control what I think the problem is. My actual work is to see that nothing needs to be done. I sigh, then breathe and move forward.

Of course, many obstacles may need a more profound and more objective viewpoint. A good counselor can help you understand your astrological cycle, which can aid you tremendously. When I received my first session many years ago, I faced so many tremendous obstacles in front of me. I was utterly overwhelmed. I learned that I was in a cycle called the "Saturn Return," which would last two more years. It was a tough time for me, but the knowledge of that cycle helped me breathe more efficiently to deal with it.

With every obstacle that you overcome in your life, you will find a core sense of strength inside you. Having a counselor guide you through your journey can be comforting and helpful. When you understand the Wisdom of Obstacles — you will be able to tackle anything placed before you.

Leonardo Da Vinci, the great scientist, inventor, and painter, once said:

"Obstacles cannot crush me.

Every obstacle yields to stern resolve.

He who is fixed to a star does not change his mind."
