The Wisdom of Obstacles

ganeshAre you going through a tough time right now?  Do you have an obstacle that seems hard and difficult?  Today's Teaching is on the "Wisdom of Obstacles."

What is an Obstacle and why do we need them?

An obstacle is something that obstructs or hinders any type of anticipated progress.  An obstacle is the perception that something must be overcome and moved through.

Our society supports and rewards achievement and success. In order to feel that we have achieved, we must have an obstacle to overcome. Overcoming an obstacle builds character, strength, wisdom and integrity. These are very profound qualities and very important, as well as essential to self development.

Wisdom Teaching: Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Aquarius

Full Moon Lunar Eclipse August 18th, 2016

fullmoon

This morning (at 2:26 am PST) we had a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Aquarius.  If you have planets in Aquarius or Leo this Eclipse will activate you.  Aquarius is the astrological sign associated with humanity, brotherhood, friendship, rebellion, freedom, unconventionality and being a visionary. Leo is the sign of generosity, leadership, creativity, drama, play, enthusiasm, love and loyalty.

Today the Full Moon brings with it a Lunar Eclipse. Eclipse's are shadow cycles that help provide information about what is  happening right now, in the shadow.  The definition of an Eclipse is "dim or hide and conceal", or to render invisible by the elimination of light.   So during an eclipse cycles many things can be brought to light, or may actually be revealed. Also be aware that some things can remain hidden, in the shadows. It is our responsibility to bring to awareness what shadow issues exist in our lives, and work to create more balance in our lives.

Wisdom Teaching: Mercury Retrograde In the Sign of Gemini

Mercury Retrograde In the Sign of Gemini ~ Monday May 17th, 2015   Mercury Direct Thursday June 11, 2015

Turtle

Mercury, is going Retrograde in the Sign of Gemini on Monday, May 18th (6:50 PM PST) until Thursday, June 11th. Mercury is the planet that is associated with all types of communication, networking, thinking and socializing. It is primarily associated with the mind and everyday mental activity and the more subtle movements within our thoughts as they arise from our feelings.

What is a Retrograde Cycle?

It is a cycle is when any planet that (when viewed from the earth) "appears" to have stopped and is moving backward through the sky. After some time the planet then goes "direct" and is back onto it's normal path. Every planet retrogrades except the Sun and the Moon.  There are about three Mercury retrograde cycles per year.

Wisdom Teaching: New Moon In Cancer

new moon

New Moon Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at 6:30 pm --  Full Moon Friday, July 31, 2015 at 3:43 am

Today we start a New Moon Cycle.  New Moon cycles are the beginning of an Astrological Cycle that happens once a month. New Moon cycles are a great time to "start" a new project or initiate a new behavior or activity.  This cycles occurs when the Sun and the Moon are (both) in the same Astrological Sign.  The Sun and the Moon are in the Astrological sign of Cancer.  This means the Full Moon will be in the opposite sign - Capricorn.   The Full Moon will be on Friday, July 31st.  When the Sun is in Cancer and the Moon is in Capricorn, (its opposite sign), we have a Full Moon.

A New Moon always starts with both the Sun and the Moon in the same sign, and a Full Moon Cycle happens when the Moon is in the opposite sign of the Sun.

What is a New Moon?

Every month we get the opportunity to feel the cycle of the Moon. The New Moon starts the cycle. The best way to work with the moons cycle is to start projects on the New Moon, and finish projects on the Full Moon.

Wisdom Teaching: Mars Retrograde In Virgo

Mars, our planet of desire, energy, vitality and passion went retrograde Monday, January 23rd, 2012 (Retrograde dates: January 23, 2012 - April 13, 2012).  What does this mean for you? Lets explore the energy of Mars.

Mars is our planet of power, strength, courage and aggression.  Mars measures our ability to project force, passion and personal will into our lives.  A strong Mars is necessary to give us the independence, self-confidence and motivation we need to carry out our unique ideas into the world.  On the negative side, Mars can bring out agression, competition, arguments and conflict. On this note, Mars has always been known as the God of War.

Mars is the planetary energy connected to action.  Yet, it is not just action for actions sake, it is goal-oriented action.  Without Mars, we would just never get anything done.

Wisdom Teaching: Upcoming Eclipses in Cancer/Capricorn

The Upcoming Eclipse  -- Detoxification & Spin Cycles   July 30, 2009

eclipse

Three things cannot be long hidden;

The sun, the moon, and the truth.

~Buddha

What is an Eclipse?

An eclipse is an astronomical event that occurs when a planet or a celestial object moves into the shadow of another celestial object. The word “eclipse” has its origin from the ancient Greek word ekleipsis, which means, “I cease to exist,” or “I am absent.” This term is used to describe either a Solar Eclipse (when the Moon’s shadow crosses the Earth’s surface) or a Lunar Eclipse, (the Moon moves into the shadow of the Earth).

In the early days Eclipses were considered a very powerful phenomenon. They were seen as highly threatening and ominous.  People were simply terrified of a Solar Eclipse.  Can you imagine the "Light of the Sun fading to darkness in the middle of the day" when you did not know what an Eclipse was? Yikes!!   Now we are more educated about what is really happening.

The problem with communication…

Is the illusion that it has been accomplished

~George Bernard Shaw

Our fastest moving planet Mercury, is going Retrograde Wednesday, May 6th in the Sign of Gemini until May 30th, 2009. Mercury is our planet associated with communication, everyday mental activity and movement. Mercury goes Retrograde about 3 times a year. It will also move back into the sign of Taurus on May 13th giving us two planetary energies to experience.

A retrograde planet is one that (when viewed from the earth) “appears” to have stopped and is moving backward through the sky. After some time the planet then goes "direct" and is back on it's normal cyclic path. Every planet retrogrades except the Sun and the Moon.

What Dasha Cycle are You In?

"Like gravity,

karma is so basic

we often don't even

notice it."

~Sakyong Mipham

Today’s Wisdom Teaching is on the dasa system. It is one of the most important tools in Vedic Astrology. A dasa is a planetary period of time, and will show you how your karma unfolds in your life. There are many dasa systems but the most prominent is the Vimshottari Dasha system, (Vimshottari means 120 in Sanskrit). It uses 120 years as the length of your life cycle. Each planet unfolds for a certain number of years before giving way to another.

Which Planet Cycle do I start my life with?

The start of your first planetary dasha is determined by the unique placement of your Moon at birth. The dasha's unfold in the order of the list below. See if you can determine which dasha YOU are in right now by reading the brief descriptions of the cycles listed below.

Perhaps the most important cycle to consider of the many Astrological cycles is the cycle of the Moon. The Moon’s Cycle is a Wisdom Teaching that is actually understood as a Creation Cycle. Following the Cycle of the Moon helps you to stay in the natural flow of Creation with the Universe. Each particular phase of the Moon helps you to understand what part of the creative process is up and what you need to stay attentive to that will help you to reach your goals.

A Moon Cycle consists of eight phases. The following four are the most
important to follow. The New Moon starts tomorrow!

Wisdom Teaching: Pluto and Change

Change!  Change!  Change is in the air!   August 24, 2001

change

Pluto our smallest and most distant planet in the Solar System has been in a retrograde (moving backward) position for the past 5 months. Yesterday it went direct (moved forward). Did you feel a shift?

Pluto’s Cycle is best understood as a deep Transformation Cycle. Pluto’s message really embodies the deep archaic feminine element. It teaches us that we can be fruitful, creative and healing, as well as dark, destructive and cruel.

Experiences with Pluto can be related to misuse of power, helplessness, dependency, and entanglement. Its strengths are associated with tremendous creativity, deep psychological changes in oneself and an association with supernatural healing forces. It has also been called the archetype of the magician!
