King of Spades

The King of Spades is the last card in the order of the 52 cards and was born to rule. It is a card of self-mastery. They are ambitious, self-protective, and capable of living life to the fullest. They have a lot of power, can do much in the world, and do not flaunt or abuse what they have earned.

They have a restless spirit and a wide variety of interests. Like most Kings, they are primarily freedom-loving and have a strong intuitive sense of fairness and justice. As a fixed card, they are very determined and will do their best when given the opportunity to show their great versatility.

“Heavy is the Head” that wears this crown. Many King of Spades assume this role but find it a burden and extremely restrictive if they do not sense they have freedom. When they step up to lead, they usually rise to the top of their field and are interested in the work ethic and leadership skills that create their success.

This King knows the Law and is often misunderstood because he is connected to a higher spiritual realm. This is the realm which the majority of people are ignorant of.

The shadow side of this card is the ability to do many things and, in the end, never make a choice and lack focus. Too many options can create more restlessness and an extreme lack of focus or apathy, leading to tremendous hopelessness. As the highest card of the deck, it can potentially do anything, climbing very high, but without a solid spiritual foundation, it can remain too connected to the world's rewards.

Today is the day of Self Mastery. What are you passionate about? Why do you feel restless, and what spiritual practice do you need to engage in to help you focus your precious energy? Go out and stay focused on it! Live to your highest and put that royal crown on!

“There's no social media or Googling yourself.

You only have to do it once to learn never to do it again.”

~ Colin Morgan (A King of Spades)
